God's Faithfulness in Hungary

God's Faithfulness in Hungary

October 2006

In September I served with a team of six: Chris Johnson from Texas, Lautaro Guerrero from Argentina, Ray and Barb Miller, Dale Stoll and myself from Indiana. There were different churches and denominations that invited us to minister in the cities of Budapest, Velence, Szekesfehevar, Veroce, and Gyomro. In this newsletter I’d like to share a few of the testimonies of what the Lord did in the meetings during our times of ministry. In the next newsletter I will continue to share more testimonies. It is too much to try to condense into one writing. I hope the testimonies encourage your faith and bless you knowing what the Lord has done. Thank you for sending, sowing, and praying for our team making it possible for us to serve in Hungary. It is always a blessing to reconnect with friends and the family of God in Hungary!

One evening during a team prayer time, the Lord had different members praying and declaring what we heard from the Lord regarding the nation of Hungary. A little before midnight a call was received from the host pastor sharing about the riots in Budapest. A taped conversation from the Prime Minister was aired where he said he lied about the nation’s economy. Our Hungarian friends shared they had not seen this kind of outbreak in the way of demonstrations since the fall of communism. Please continue to pray for God’s Kingdom to come in Hungary and His will be done and for whom the Lord wants in office.

Parliament in Budapest, Hungary

Prior to going to Hungary, prayer meetings were hosted in Indiana inviting pray-ers from the region to pray for the nation of Hungary, the churches, and the people we would serve. The meetings were also hosted via web-camera with our team member from Central Texas, along with pray-ers from that region. We also connected with our Argentine team member and members from his local church in La Plata, Argentina. It was a blessing to receive prayers from faithful intercessors and all declare God’s heart for Hungary. All who participated in the meetings were refreshed and encouraged from the presence of the Lord.

In Budapest a pastor’s seminar was held and Dale Stoll, taught 6 sessions centered on the theme of ‘The Missing Message of Jesus’. There were pastors, leaders, and people from churches of different denominations of Hungary, as well as, from Romania. In all there were about 6 or 7 churches represented. Some of the pastors shared the teachings were simple, yet clear. Others that attended were able to understand clearly the gospel message and identify how to apply the principals practically, personally and corporately. It was a blessing to hear that some of the pastors plan on sharing these materials with others in their leadership team that were unable to attend.

One weekend the team ministered at several Baptist churches in the cities of Velence, Veroce, and Szekesfehervar (try to pronounce that name). Our time in Velence and Szekesfehervar were strategic due to the transition of the pastor and his wife had moved from Velence to Szekesfehervar. Pastors are moved every seven years in the Hungarian Baptist churches to serve at another Baptist church. The new pastor serving in Velence also served the church in Veroce. It was a full weekend of ministry where we served a city pastor’s wives group, a youth group, women and men’s groups, and the congregations of Velence and Veroce.

The Veroce Baptist church is about a year old and pastored by a team of individuals who are bi-vocational. They have a heart to win the lost of the city and desire to reach their community for the Lord. They purchased property for another church facility and we were asked to pray and bless the land. They plan to build a park area for the community, as well as, a build a larger church. Different members of our team prayed and sensed the Lord wants to use this church and park to be a lighthouse for the lost and hurting. We asked God to establish His Kingdom and for the foundation of their hearts and the church to be centered in the Lord Jesus. There was a hunger and passion for more of God. That Sunday morning our team prayed for many individuals who came forward for personal ministry. The Lord released His healing power for a person that struggled with depression. They received words of life and hope. Another person wanted to be set free from smoking cigarettes and wanted his life to reflect the Lordship of Jesus in all areas of his life. Another couple testified how God used the principals taught in the men’s meeting to speak to his heart. His wife received a now word in the ministry time with the women’s meeting the day before. That Sunday morning the Lord brought healing and reconciliation in their marriage. The couple chose to commit and apply the truths they each received. The husband asked forgiveness of his wife for his role in their marriage being what it was and his desire to move ahead and both desiring to change their behavior.

Pastoral Team in Veroce

Barb Miller and I were invited to share with a group of pastor’s wives in the city of Szekesfehervar. Faith was demonstrated by the host pastor’s wife who was new to the area and had extended invitations to other pastor’s wives to join for an evening of food, fellowship, and prayer. Comments from others told her people would not come, let alone sit at the same table together. This did not deter her from following through what the Lord put on her heart. Even though there were broken relationships among these people, she trusted God to break in and break through. She allowed the Lord to use her as an instrument of reconciliation. She had only received one call saying they were coming to her evening fellowship meeting. A beautiful meal was prepared and the table was set for 10 people by faith. Only one had responded to the invitation. As the time to begin the evening, the doorbell rang again, and again, and again. Ladies began pouring into the home and the table was full. The pastor’s wife hosting the evening had to make room on another countertop for the additional ladies that came. We were blessed to share our hearts together. The presence of the Lord poured over each of us and it created openness for everyone to share. It is amazing how one simple act of faith can cause a ripple effect, affecting the lives of others. That evening the people at odds with each other prayed for one another, prayed for the city and for the churches of the city. I believe God was pleased. It is like the example of the widow with the cruse of oil with instructions to gather empty jars, which resulted in all the jars being filled. The oil continued to flow until there were no more jars to pour into. The healing oil of the Lord flowed to all there that evening including Barb and I.
